Dr. Turagam is a cardiac electrophysiologist and Assistant Professor of Medicine at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai Hospital. He joined the Zena and Michael A. Wiener Cardiovascular Institute in July 2020. Dr. Turagam graduated from Osmania Medical College in India with academic distinction. Afterwards, he finished his internal medicine residency at University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and then completed his fellowship in cardiovascular medicine at University of Missouri-Colubmia School of Medicine. Afterwards, he completed his cardiac electrophysiology fellowship at the Icahn School of Medicne at Mount Sinai, New York where he served as Chief Fellow between 2019-2020. His focus involves performing advanced therapies for cardiac arrhythmias – including atrial fibrillation and ventricular tachycardias, the most common cause of sudden cardiac death. He performs various interventional procedures including catheter ablation, device implantation and left atrial appendage occlusion.


In addition, Dr. Turagam attends on the inpatient cardiac electrophysiology services at the Mount Sinai Hospital and is actively involved in clinical research involving various aspects of arrhythmia care - especially catheter ablation, left atrial appendage closure and neuromodulation. He has authored over 150-peer reviewed scientific publications and feels fortunate to serve on local and national committees devoted to advanced arrhythmia care.  Dr. Turagam is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology and a Fellow of the Heart Rhythm Society.
